Many of the players on the Hockey team have been there since our first game three hockey seasons ago. At the beginning of this past winter season, there were skeptics that didn't think this team would be able to win. This years playoff run silenced the skeptics and the team made it to the Weds. division finals with three straight victories. Even after regulation and a 5-minute overtime period, Campus was still undefeated. It took the 12th shot in a shootout to finally knock Campus out of the playoffs. Campus would never have made it that far without the courageous goaltending of Jason Kowalewicz. Jason was a new addition to our team and also the reason why we had a chance at winning every game. With that being said, Laird Comber is the person that executed clinch goal scoring. His defensive commitment was overshadowed by his ability to create plays that led to goals. There is only one player that combined both his offensive creativity and rock solid defensive play and that's Darryl Parsons. It's difficult to gauge if Darryl is getting better with every season or if the other team is just giving up chasing him around in a phone booth. These three players showed players on and off the ice how to win hockey games. Thanks for the best season we've had to date. It does take more than three players to win a hockey game though and the support cast came a long way. The commitment to team defense and positional play is a factor that I hope we can take with us to the Dominion Twin rink. The Hockey Stat link will be changed to take you directly to our team page. The mountain bike team will have a lot of catching up to do this year to equal the hockey team. Good luck to all!! |
